He completed his BA in German Literature and Mathematics at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, with his senior year spent in a study-abroad program at Albrecht Ludwig University in Freiburg, Germany. He later received an MFA in Drama/Dance from the University of Hawaii in Manoa.
